Concert Polka Maestre

Introducing POLKA MAESTRE - TONY JALOVEC!

We are very excited to announce that Polka Maestre, Tony Jalovec will be performing as the opening act for ATOMIK HARMONIK at the Button Accordion Championship event on Sat. Aug. 4, 2018, in Newmarket, Ontario.

Based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, the Polka Maestre Band has entertained Canadian and American fans for over 25 years, at a variety of events including banquets, picnics, festivals, fairs, corporate events, on military bases, and for weddings and anniversaries, and believe or not, for funerals (where everyone cried, including Tony and the priest; and Tony’s accordion still has the bellow stains to prove it!).

The Band has opened for the 2016 Cleveland Polka hall of fame show, the largest polka event in the USA. They have performed at Dyngus Day in New York, the Christkindl Festival of German Christmas in Kitchener and in numerous media tours for Rogers TV and local radio stations. Year after year, the band is in high demand to play for Oktoberfest in Kitchener/Waterloo and also for the Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa.

Tony’s Polka Maestre Band uses a midi-enabled button accordion for a full band sound, to perform a wide repertoire of musical genres with emphasis on the original Oberkrainer music, as well as the Cleveland style polkas and waltzes. The band performs a mix of old classics and new tunes popular with Slovenian, Croatian, German and international audiences. A versatile musician, Tony can perform as a one-man band, or in a duo, as a trio, or even as a 6-piece orchestra depending on the venue requirements.

A sweet memory for Tony is the ’Železnik’ button box that his father bought with his first paycheck in Canada. Even though the family was hungry, the accordion was a higher priority. And so it was only fitting that on his mom’s 90th birthday, with her encouragement along with a certain quantity of ‘vino’, Tony played for her on that very special accordion.

Welcome Polka Maestre!
